Corrina Hammond - Lois

Corrina is well known as a painter and rocker chick in the grrl punk band Maow. A former set decorator in Vancouverís lively film industry, she has made a spectacular transition to the other side of the lens. Corrina plays Lois, the Low Self Esteem Girl. She wanders through life lonely and impressionable, easily emotionally coerced by people who wish to use her for their own ends.


Ted Dave - Gregg

Ted is the founder of Buy Nothing Day, one day in the year where people are encouraged to not spend their money on consumer items. He is an underground cartoonist whose work has appeared in a variety of publications, with Nihilbert being his latest twisted comic strip offering. Gregg is a passive-aggressive pot dealer who masks his lack of self-confidence with a thin veneer of braggadocio.


James Dawes - Garth

James plays Gregg's creepy pal Garth, who feels that bullying is the only way to get ahead in life. He pressures Gregg into selling him information that would allow him to have sex with Lois. He pushes his way into Lois' bedroom by manipulating her emotionally.


Rob McBeth - Rob

Rob rocks hard as lead guitarist for the Vancouver-based group The Battles. Rob plays a shy young man with an inability to verbally express himself. When his youth group turns against him, he attempts to rebel but doesn't quite know what he should be doing.


Carl Newman - Carl

Carl's musical therapies include stints with Superconductor, Zumpano, Neko Case and the New Pornographers. He once fronted a Christian folk-rock revival group with Blaine called Thee Crusaders. Carl plays a controlling yet persuasive and charismatic youth pastor who leads a group of young urban evangelicals.


Cindy Wolfe - Cindy

Cindy is a country and western singer-songwriter, fronting the group Tennessee Twin. She plays the wife of the youth pastor Carl who is instrumental in converting Lois to the faith. Although a seemingly devout Christian, her moral armor crumbles upon the altar of the first temptation.


Howard Reid - Reverend Gabby Gerwilliger

Howard grew up a Saskatchewan farm boy. On his way to God only knows where, he stopped off in the city to become a drug dealing biker. He later met the girl of his dreams and retired to a quiet family life in Tokyo.Howard gives a standout performance as a biker turned preacher who specializes in exorcisms.


Jason Zumpano - Jason

Jason is drummer for the retro-pop combo Zumpano, and lends his elegant keyboard styling to the happening sound of Destroyer. He plays a "john" who buys information on how to seduce Lois.

Dan Bejar - Dan

Dan is the songwriter genius behind Destroyer. He plays Gregg's friend, whose disbelief of Gregg's sexual prowess challenges the fragility of his under-developed ego.

Kim Cote - Kim

Kim plays a psychic visionary who sees Rob overtaken by demon possession.


Blaine Thurier - Filmmaker

A young man with a passion for storytelling, Blaine authored offbeat comic strips for alternative newspapers for many years. His cartoon series Grief was the prototype for Low Self Esteem Girl, his feature film debut. Following a two year stint as an English teacher in Japan, he funded his movie through his job shelving books at the Vancouver Public Library. Blaine and Carl once fronted a Christian folk-rock revival group called Thee Crusaders.


Jody Franklin - Executive Producer

Jody has had his nose in the indie arts scene for years. A jack-of-everything in the film "biz," his most cherished project was producing the Burning Man 99 video webcast. He's infamous for being a member of the demented musical/performance ensemble July Fourth Toilet. Moonlighting as a film critic, Blaine was impressed by his insightful review of Low Self Esteem Girl and recruited him.

Sun City Girls - Lies up the Niger and The Vinegar Stroke

The Sun City Girls are known for producing a diverse oeuvre of eclectic music over the past twenty years, earning them a modest cult following worldwide. They have released a countless number of recordings, and have lent their unique sonic exotica to film soundtracks.

Destroyer - Emax III and Barred from the Temple

Their current album, The Thief, is in heavy rotation in the darkened living rooms of gaunt urban hipsters across the continent.

The New Pornographers - Mass Romantic

The New Pornographers feature three Low Self Esteem Girl alumni: Carl, Dan and Blaine. Their Mass Romantic album of new wave rave up pop is being released through the Mint Records label.
